You will have to pay to the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles a driver responsibility assessment fee of $250.00 per year for three years if you are convicted of any of the following driving under the influence offenses:

1. Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated [A-DWI];
2. Driving While Intoxicated [DWI];
3. Driving While Ability Impaired By Alcohol [DWAI];
4. Driving While Ability Impaired By Drugs [DWI-D];
5. Driving While Impaired By Drugs And Alcohol [DWAI-D/A]; or
6. If you are found to have failed to submit to a chemical test.

Your driver's license will be suspended if you do not make the required payments to the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. The driver assessment fee is in addition to any fine, fee, surcharge or penalty imposed by the court.
