Speed In School Zone -VTL §1180(c):You can be found guilty of speeding if a maximum school speed limit has been set on a roadway bordering a school if you drive in excess of that limit during: (1) school days at times indicated on the school zone speed limit sign, provided, however, the times posted on the sign are to be somewhere between the hours of seven o'clock A.M. and six o'clock P.M.; or (2) a period when the beacons attached to the school zone speed limit sign are flashing and the sign has a notice that reveals that the school zone speed limit is to be obeyed when the beacons are flashing. The beacons should only be flashing a half hour before the student activity starts, during the student activity and a half hour after the student activity ends.
